Cradle2Cradle? CO2 Footprint? Who recognizes those phrases? Our economy is mostly linear. Recycling is one exception but it also mostly has an endpoint. PET Plastik buttles for excample will be 25 times washed and refilled before getting recycelt. But recycling is also not endless because materials getting week. But how can we give products again and again a new live and reduce the CO2 Footprint WE leave? I was introduced to Michael Braungart 's theories when I studied at weißensee kunsthochschule berlin in 2009. He is one of the creators of Cradle to Cradle NGO and an idol when it comes to circularity. Meeting him at the #cradle2cradle congress was one of this extraordinary moments as an entrepreneur. He deeply influenced my designs till today, as you can recognize in our valupa buckle. It was one of the main focus points to me that the buckle is easily exchangeable. Prof.Dr.Braungart I couldn't agree more: The future is circularity! Great seeing and hearing more about your input in terms of circularity at C2C LOTTA LUDWIGSON, traceless materials and many many more💚 #circulareconomy #noplasticwaste #entrepreneurmindset #greenfuture #greeneconomy #positivity

The Sustainability in Licensing Conference wouldn't go ahead without the support of the industry, our Products of Change community and our honourable list of sponsors, all of which are flying the flag for sector sustainable development while taking great strides themselves. Sponsor spotlight is: Character World Brands Sustainability is an ambition thought about holistically at Character World Brands and a subject applied to all areas of the business as the team looks to drive change and improvement across its operations rather than with just one specific product or range. It’s why in the last year, the team has rolled-out the use of BCI Cotton and GRS polyester throughout its bedding ranges as a new standard specification, as well as introduce recycled card and recycled plastic content, while reducing the overall volume of material, within its packaging – a move that has elicited keen response from customers and retailers alike. Office waste is recycled, staff members enjoy the benefits of a ‘cycle to work’ programme, and the business is currently investing in electric charging points for electric cars showcasing the ‘top-down’ support the company’s move towards better sustainability is receiving. Lisa Hey, head of product development says: "We’ve said it before but we believe a good night’s sleep shouldn’t cost the earth. We see the Sustainability in Licensing Conference as a great platform and opportunity to meet up with industry peers and like-minded companies to discuss developments and opportunities to drive sustainability in the work we do, even the day-to-day actions we take. We are passionate about making a difference and pacing a way for change, and for me – personally having been involved in SiLC and Products of Change from the beginning – this conference facilitates important debate, discussion, and a shared agenda to foster sharing best practices and ideation" Read more about Character World's sustainability ambitions for 2024 on the Products of Change website: https://lnkd.in/eXEJKFjr Join us at SILC 23 on Wednesday 8 November: https://lnkd.in/dWyaXbk #SILC23 #ProductsOfChange #Sustainability Helena Mansell-Stopher 🏡 Robert Hutchins Ian Hyder Samantha Loveday Danny Schweiger Mark Schweiger Hayley Maguire

Pictures speak a thousand words. Circular economy, beyond mere recycling, calls for many avenues for business innovation, from redesigning products, services and processes to multi-stakeholder collaborations, closing the loop to retain value and circulate resources for as long as possible in the wider system. It can be challenging as it might entail shaking things up on many levels to rethink profit, people and planet, but it's all about taking the first steps and realizing the rewards CE can afford in the long run. Which one of these impresses you the most? More carbon reservoirs, alternative richer protein sources and regenerated nylons are no-brainers and pretty cool.

What resources are we leaving to future generations 🤔🌱? As family-owned company 👪, we actively address this question and accept responsibility. In doing so, we are dedicated to our REHAU RETURN commitment and strive to give something valuable back. For us, this means for example rethinking processes in an innovative and sustainable way. Promoting the circular economy ♻️ is at the heart of our sustainability strategy. That is the reason why we are looking for ways to keep existing materials and products in circulation as long as possible. To this end, we are working with all our divisions on strategies that contribute to material reutilization for the reuse of recycled materials or return concepts. We are also working to increasingly convert our sites to an environmentally friendly electricity and heat supply 🔋. Really proud of what we have achieved so far, and what we are working to accomplish in the future #BMASustAwards2023 #BMAconf2023 #sustainability #sustainabilityleadership
Delighted to announce we have again been recognised as an environmentally aware business and as such, shortlisted as a finalist at the prestigious 2023 BMA Sustainability Awards. Teams at our manufacturing hub in Bridgnorth and our HQ in Somerset have been driving our long term eco strategy, over many years, to deliver significant reductions in the environmental impact of our business. We’ve been shortlisted in the 'Open Category Award' by the BMA Sustainability Awards judges, who sought positive developments and initiatives reflecting a profound understanding of sustainability. Our initiatives have been comprehensive, ranging from substantial business-wide recycling successes to the elimination of plastic packaging and a complete overhaul of our packaging methods and products. We have also taken significant steps, such as replacing staff vehicles with electric/hybrid alternatives, implementing energy-efficient lighting, and reassessing our IT protocols to conserve energy. One of our notable achievements was optimising the material and packaging of our largest volume product, the Impey EasyFit wetroom former, resulting in a reduction to landfill by 15 tonnes in 2022. As a business with a UK manufacturing base, our recycling mission remains stringent, and we are on track to recycle in excess of 50 tonnes in 2023. A BIG thank you to our teams for their continued efforts and commitment as we work towards a more sustainable future 🍃 Bathroom Manufacturers Association Impey - UK's Market Leading Wetroom Brand Coram Showers - Shower Enclosure Specialist Sealskin UK #BMASustAwards2023 #BMAconf2023 #sustainability #sustainabilityleadership

Head of Product & Brand | Circular Economy Transformation | Innovation | Strategy | Marketing | Customer Centricity
𝗟𝗲𝘁´𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗭ü𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 – 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲: https://lnkd.in/eDcGPW-T Thank you Adam Fulham of Product Network Europe for the invite to the panel. I am looking forward to discuss actual topics in Product Management with Michael Hänni (EMAP Systems), Jose Rosa (Yuh finance app) and Marco Oppecini, MBA, PMP®(Pilatus Aircraft). I am happy to share some of my insights how climate goals, expected upcoming eco-design requirements and demand for sustainable products are influencing my role as product head. These topics are for sure increasingly challenging me: 🛒 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀: while sustainability is important to consumers, they are generally not willing to significantly compromise on core product attributes like quality, functionality, and price in order to obtain more sustainable options. 🔄 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: Eco Design Sustainability Regulations (ESPR) have been released to make «sustainable products the norm» and expand the scope beyond just energy-related products to cover (almost) all physical goods in the EU market. https://lnkd.in/dxUeNbGH 💡 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆: using sustainable materials, designing for life cycle extension, repairability, enabling take-back, refurbisment and recycling and incorporating smart features to extend the mattress's useful life require material innovations and a reconsideration of manufacturing techniques, business concepts and systems. 🧠 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: transitioning to a circular economy is as much a cultural challenge as it is a technical one, requiring a profound shift in mindsets and behaviors of all stakeholders around production, communication, distribution and consumption. ♻️ 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: in Switzerland around 1 Mio mattresses are incinerated in waste incineration plants every year, a recycling system, such as used in the Netherlands or France, does not yet exist. Matratzen-Allianz is working on a solution and committed to a more circular mattress industry in Switzerland. #kreislaufwirtschaft #circulareconomy #nachhaltigkeit

We congratulate our partner Vorwerk Gruppe on laying the foundation stone for its new corporate headquarters today! Hendrik Wüst, Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia, also seized the opportunity to personally congratulate the representatives of the company. In his speech, he commended Vorwerk's numerous efforts in the field of sustainability, which include product design for longevity and also the plans for the new corporate headquarters. We are pleased that in this context Wüst also emphasized that the globally operating family business has been a supporter of Circular Valley from the very beginning. He said: "I am grateful that Vorwerk is committed to sustainability - not just when it comes to designing the company headquarters: Vorwerk is part of Circular Valley, which is being launched here in Wuppertal. It now attracts guests from all over the world who don't come to the state capital first, but to Wuppertal first. They travel to see Circular Valley, then make a visit to the Minister President and are usually very inspired by what they have learned here: "Avoiding waste, saving resources, reusing, developing products in a way that they can be repaired in the future. (...) Longevity, that's what Circular Valley is all about. We are talking about repairing products so that they last for decades, perhaps for generations." #vorwerk #hendrikwüst #circularvalley #circulareconomy #circularity #gigaimpact #sustainability #environment #homeofcirculareconomy #kreislaufwirtschaft #heimatderkreislaufwirtschaft #nachhaltigkeit #klimaschutz #nrw #rheinruhr

I am thrilled to share our new partnership with Fondation Maud Fontenoy and Plastic Odyssey, two renowned organizations dedicated to protecting our oceans and fighting plastic pollution across eco-systems. As EVP for Faurecia Interiors and, at a personal level, as a believer in the critical need for sustainability breakthroughs, I am truly excited about this collaboration. It marks a significant milestone in our collective mission to preserve our oceans, I trust it will enable us to bring to market vehicle interiors displaying "visibly green" plastic parts made of such ocean-recovered materials. With a shared vision of raising awareness on environmental protection and developing sustainable industrial solutions, we are on the right path to make waves in global #sustainability 🌊. At FORVIA, we know that responsible manufacturing practices are key to combating plastic pollution. We are committed to implementing production processes and materials that prioritize sustainability, which is why we have created MATERI’ACT with the aim to develop, produce and commercialize low carbon, sustainable materials. Our innovative materials will boast a carbon footprint approximately 85% lower than the current products: recycled based compounds, bio-sourced foils and low-emission carbon fibers are some of the ways we are revolutionizing the automotive industry and paving the way for a more sustainable future. I am incredibly proud of these new partnerships, and their potential to make a difference for society. We are embarking on a ground-breaking journey that will open new perspectives for our industry, and I am excited to see how we will work together to push the boundaries of #innovation and build a greener future. https://lnkd.in/edFJijWm
