Today is French Bastille Day! One of our production sites (Tarifold) is in France so we thought it would be cool to share a few French work habits with you. - Workweek In France, we have a 35-hour workweek. At Tarifold, we work 8 hours per day because we have a Friday off every 2 weeks! Lucky us 😊 - Lunch break It’s pretty much a given that meals in France are sacrosanct, lunchtime especially. Even if this habit is being increasingly lost, some of them take always 2 hours of break and go to the restaurant every day. - Days off & bank holidays In France, we have 25 days of paid vacation. We also have a reputation for granting our employees many bank holidays, which is slightly below the EU average, of 10 days. #frenchbastilleday #workhabits #lunchbreak #daysoff #cliches

If you are an introverted foreigner working in Germany and you do not know how to start a conversation with your german co-workers, here are 3 proven starters: 1. Hast Du schon Deine Urlaubstage geplant? (Have you already planned your leave days for holiday?) 2. Wo warst Du zuletzt in Urlaub? (Where were you last on vacations?) 3. Wo machst Du als nächstes Urlaub? (Where do plan to spend your next vacations?) 😎

On vacations Since I live in Spain, I have realized that there's a custom that when you return to work after vacations, the first thing people ask you is: 👉Where did you go? This question is asked automatically, stemming from a productivity-focused mindset (the non-stop doing). Vacations are not meant for doing things but for resting. People rest in different ways, and not everyone has the resources to go somewhere else. A more appropriate question should be: 👉Were you able to rest? After all, vacations are not about going to places, but about not going to one in particular: 👉WORK! #Vacations #Work #Relax #Enjoy #Rest

Workdays at sea can often be long and demanding for our seafarers. Even when they’re over, the crew members are still far from home. How do they relax and recharge their batteries on board after work? We asked seafarers on five of our vessels to tell us a little about their leisure activities! 🚢 ⛹️ 👉 Find out how they prefer to spend their free time: https://hl.ag/80f #hapaglloyd #hlfamily #lookout

It’s very much holiday time (although the UK might be hotter than Spain at the moment!) - there are huge gains to be had from ensuring employees and teams have a properly restful break. This means definitely not being accessible whilst away, and not cramming work in before and after the break. Here are a couple of tips from founder Amanda Henderson - Assoc. CIPD as to how to support your teams to have brilliant breaks from work. #holidaytime #holiday #annualleave #destress #planahead

When working with Japan, it is always useful to know when your colleagues will be out of office. The country has a total of 16 public holidays in a year compared to 10 holidays in Europe and the US on average. In that sense, the higher number in Japan is a viable way to ensure that Japanese employees take some time off during the year. Traditionally, Japanese would not take individual long vacations outside public holidays as it would be seen as “leaving all the work to my colleagues while I am out enjoying myself”… So, here is a shortlist of the most important Japanese holidays to mark in your calendar!
